Chelsea sign Bakayoko from Monaco

English Premier League side Chelsea have completed the signing of midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, the club announced on Saturday.

The French international, who helped the Monaco claim the Ligue 1 title last season, joined the Blues on a five-year contract for a reported fee of up to £39.7 million.

“I am very happy to be here and to join this great team,” the 22-year old said in a statement on the Chelsea website.

Chelsea said: “Tiemoue Bakayoko is a Chelsea player having today completed a transfer from Monaco.

“Bakayoko, 22, is a tall, strong and quick central midfielder who was instrumental in Monaco’s Ligue 1 triumph last season, as well as their impressive run to the Champions League semi-finals.”

Bakayoko will wear the No.14 shirt, and he becomes becomes Antonio Conte’s third signing this summer after Willy Caballero and Antonio Rudiger.
