English Premier League club Chelsea have confirmed the signing of midfielder Jorginho, who was formerly at Napoli, on five year deal.

The Brazil-born Italy international will continue his relationship with Maurizio Sarri, who was also confirmed manager of the Stamford Bridge club on Saturday following the sacking of Antonio Conte.

Jorginho, who played a pivotal role in seeing Napoli finish second behind Juventus in Serie A last season, underwent a medical earlier this week before signing a contract reported to be worth £102,000-a-week.

According to reports, Chelsea paid a combined fee of around £57million for both Jorginho and Sarri, who is now expected to step up Chelsea’s summer recruitment drive.

Jorginho has been handed the number 5 shirt at Stamford Bridge and agreed to a five-year contract, which sees him through to 2023.

“I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy,’ Jorginho said at his unveiling.

“I am excited to play in such an intense league, for a team that gives everything to play and win.”
