Chelsea won't give in to Tottenham pressure --Fabregas

With eight games remaining to the end of the English Premier League this season, Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has said his side, who are currently seven points clear, won’t crack under the strain of Tottenham’s relentless pursuit for the top spot.

The Blues secured a 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Wednesday just days after crashing to a shock 2-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace, and will be playing Bournemouth this weekend in the quest of maintaining their place at the summit of the league.

“We have character. We can bounce back at anything that comes in front of us,” Fabregas said.

Meanwhile Tottenham have reeled off five successive victories, including an incredible escape act at Swansea on Wednesday when they scored three times in the final minutes to clinch a 3-1 success.

But the Chelsea midfielder admits his team have been feeling the heat lately, but he is confident that from their recovery from Palace defeat, the title nerves won’t trigger a meltdown in the remaining weeks of the season.

“The result on Saturday (against Palace) put a lot of pressure on us. We know we still have a good advantage, but this is the Premier League and you don’t want to be giving points away, especially at home,” Fabregas continued.

“We’ve been saying it since the beginning of the season: it’s one game at a time.

“We have to worry about ourselves, not what the others are doing. As long as we keep winning then we don’t have to worry.”

Second-placed Tottenham will play Watford at White Hart lane on Saturday, and few hours later, Bournemouth will be hosting league leaders Chelsea.
