Chicago gunman kills police officer, 2 others in hospital shooting

The police in Chicago are now seeking the motive of a gunman who opened fire at a police officer before gunning down two other victims at a hospital in the city.

According to Eddie Johnson, Chicago Police Superintendent, the gunman who attacked the Mercy Hospital & Medical Center was shot dead after he killed two hospital employees, and a Chicago police officer.

Johnson said the shooting began outside the hospital with a “verbal altercation” in the parking lot between people who knew each other.

A friend tried to intervene and the suspected gunman pulled up his shirt and showed a weapon. Gunfire erupted and the shooter ran inside the hospital, where police confronted him.
