Chime accepts dumping PDP, denies joining APC

Former governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, has acknowledged dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party on which platform he reigned as the state governor for eight years.

He has however denied his purported defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said his reason for abandoning PDP was because there was nothing left of the party.

APC Southeast publicity secretary, Hyacinth Ngwu, had in a post on his Facebook timeline on Thursday announced that the former governor has defected to the APC.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Enugu State chapter of APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye, has denied that Chime is now a member of their party.

He said he was completely unaware of any such development, adding that if such thing happened, he would be the one to make the announcement.

Nwoye while briefing newsmen late evening of Friday, described the rumour as being far from true.

“Sullivan Chime is not yet a member of APC‎. The Enugu state chapter of APC is not yet aware of his joining the party. It may have been an error from the publisher of the news. The publisher may have made mistake.

“What is obtained is that‎ the state presents new party members to the world and not the zonal structure of the party as was reported.

“When I receive Chime‎, I will submit him to the Southeast zonal structure. We don’t work from up to down, we work from down to up,” Nwoye said.
