Chukwueze stars, Messi injured as Barca beat Villarreal at Camp Nou

Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze was in action for 90 minutes as Villarreal fell to a 2-1 defeat against Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.

Recently crowned world’s best player, Lionel Messi was injured in the first half and was replace by Ousmane Dembele at halftime.

Messi was making his first start of the season having recovered from a calf injury to feature.

The Argentine, making his 400th La Liga start, provided the corner for Antoine Griezmann to head home off the bar.

Arthur made it 2-0, before Santi Cazorla pulled a goal back for the visitors.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, newly promoted Granada went top of La Liga – level on points with Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid – after drawing 1-1 at Real Valladolid.
