Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, in reaction to his side’s 1-3 defeat to league-leaders Chelsea FC on Saturday, has suggested his tactics against the Blues were wrong and that Antonio Conte‘s were right.

Guardiola saw his side go 1-0 up in the first half only for Chelsea to hit back with three goals in the second half.

“Our level was quite good, I’m so proud of how we played,” Guardiola said after the game. “We created more chances than we did against Palace and Burnley.”

“But football is all about goals, conceding them and making them, and ultimately Chelsea are right and we are wrong because they won and we lost,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says he was most pleased with the character of his side as they came from behind to win at the Etihad.

The Blues’ winning run was under threat today after a Gary Cahill own-goal in the first half, but second-half strikes from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard made it eight straight wins for Conte’s men.

“I think today was very tough and the game was open until the end,” the Chelsea boss said. “There were lots of chances for both teams to score.”

“I saw lots of character from my team and that’s very important to grow. “But we must continue to work and improve,” he stated.

Chelsea are still leaders of the English Premier League with 34 points, as Manchester City remain title contenders at fourth place with 30 points.
