Claudio Ranieri named The Best FIFA Men’s Coach 2016

Leicester City Manager Claudio Ranieri has been named as The Best FIFA Men’s Coach 2016 at The Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich on Monday.

The Italian guided the English Premier League title holders, who had 5000-1 odds of winning the league at the start of the season, to the most unlikely of title wins, in one of the greatest football fairy tales of all time.

After winning the award, Ranieri said: “I want to thank my players, our fans.

“What happened in England last season was strange, amazing.

“The god of football said: ‘Leicester must win’.”

Ranieri beat Portugal’s Euro 2016-winning coach Fernando Santos and Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane, who lifted the Champions League, to the award after his remarkable achievement.

Also at the Awards, Germany women team coach Silvia Neid was named The Best FIFA Women’s Coach; Futsal legend Falcao won the Outstanding Career Award; and Mohd Faiz Subri won the Puskas Award for best goal of the year!
