Clement speaks of Rangers' victory and his winning goal against Lobi Stars

The captain of Enugu Rangers, Bobby Clement, has praised the display of his side in their 2-1 victory over Lobi Stars in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League clash on Wednesday.

The reigning champions of the Nigerian League recorded their second win of the season as they beat a 10-man Lobi Stars as goals from Daniel Etor and Bobby Clement gave the home side the three points against the visitors, who netted from the spot through Kingsley Eduwo in the 57th minute.

The victory over the Pride of Benue lifted the Enugu side to the 16th spot of the NPFL table after seven games.

Speaking to Goal, Clement said, “Everybody knew it was a big game for us and the fans were really excited about it.

“We want to keep it up after qualifying for the next round of the CAF Champions League and we did well. We never gave up and we showed a real togetherness.”

Rangers International were drawn to Egyptian giants Zamalek for the first round of the CAF Champions League after they advanced from the preliminary round via the away goals rule to eliminate Algeria’s JS Saoura.

“I think we’ve been working hard as a team since the start of the season. The coach has been emphasising ‘it’s about the team’,” he continued.

And speaking of his stoppage time header, Clement said: “Osas Okoro knows me very well.

“I feel I know my teammates and they know me much better, so we find each other without opening our eyes.”

Rangers will play Shooting Stars next in the League, while in the CAF Champions League, the five-time winners, Zamalek, will host them on the weekend of March 10-12 before coming to Nigeria for the second leg between 17 and 19 March.
