KADUNA: As expected, senators Sani, Hunkuyi dump APC

Senator Shehu Sani is suspecting something could be mentally wrong with Kaduna State’s Governor Nasir El-Rufai and would want him to be examined.

This came as the senator, who represents Kaduna Central at the Senate, in a letter dated May 7, 2018, and addressed to the Chief Medical Director of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Kaduna, asked that the hospital “clinically and professionally” verify the mental state of the governor.

Sani noted in the letter that he was baffled that a governor, who is the Chief Security officer of the state, could go as far as asking people to go on riot for political reasons.

The letter read in part, “As a citizen and a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I am concerned that such inciting expletives and profanity could be uttered by a public servant who is also the security officer of a state.

“The open call to violence, disorder and inflammatory predisposition of a man who occupies such an exalted office is, in my humble opinion symptomatic of a paranoid personality disorder. It is in the safe interest of the state and the nation, that the mental state of the governor be clinically and professionally verified.”

The lawmaker, who further accused the governor of being notorious for inciting groups against each other to perpetuate evil agenda, called on the hospital to take the psychiatric test with urgency.

According to him, the result of the test would enable him to move a motion in the Senate to mandate public officers and their appointees undergo psychiatric and drug related tests routinely.

The senator had his letter copied to the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) and the Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria (APN).

Recall that El-Rufai had recently used unprintable languages to describe the three senators from Kaduna State. He was even quoted to have dubbed them enemies of the state and asked the people to stone them wherever they are seen.

He also said that none of them should be given the chance to return to office in 2019.
