The fight between the Nigerian Army and terrorists Boko Haram group along Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway on Wednesday evening is said to have left several of the insurgents dead.
Nigerian Army it was learnt also had a share in the number of those who lost their lives as a result of the battle.
No less than six soldiers, including two officers, reportedly lost their lives during the battle.
The battle which took the lives of a colonel, a captain and four soldiers, was said to have occurred at about 6:00 pm on Wednesday along Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway during a patrol by the colonel and other soldiers of the 29 Task Force Brigade.
Although the Army is yet to confirm the incident, it was however learnt that the remains of the colonel and five others have been deposited at the Nigerian Army medical facility in Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

This is coming as the Army has continued to maintain that its new strategy in the fight against insurgency, was yielding expected results, and that the issue of Boko Haram will soon be a thing of the past.
