Commander of Iran’s revolutionary guards, pilot killed in helicopter crash
The Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Gen. Hamid Mazandarani, was killed in a helicopter crash on Monday.
A pilot of the IRGC ground forces, Hamed Jandaghi, also died in the crash which occurred during an anti-terror operation in the country’s restive southeast.
The country’s news agency reports that the “ultra-light gyroplane” belonging to the IRGC crashed while conducting combat operations in Sirkan, a city in Sistan-Baluchistan province.

Iranian forces have been in the region since October 26 when Sunni Muslim militants killed 10 police officers in an unprovoked attack.
Sistan-Baluchistan which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan is one of the poorest provinces in Iran.
