Commonwealth Games: Nigeria's Table tennis team reaches semifinals

Nigeria’s Table Tennis team will face England in the Semifinal of the Table Tennis event at the ongoing Commonwealth Games after seeing off hosts Australia 3-1 in the men’s singles quarterfinal.

Segun Toriola exceptionally dominated the last Single’s rubber to firmly put Nigeria in the last four.

Toriola won over Xin Yan 11-9, 12-14, 11-3, 11-6.

The Nigerian team had earlier defeated Belize 3-0 and Malaysia 3-1 respectively on enroute the last eight stage.

Segun Toriola and Olajide Omotayo then paired to beat David Powell and Heming Hu 3-0 (11-7,11-5,11-7) in the match 3, before Toriola sent Nigeria to the semis with the 3-1 victory over Xin Yan.

The Nigerian team will be facing England on Monday with the hope of advancing to the final.
