Community thrown into fear, as gunmen abduct Adamawa Permanent Secretary

Gunmen abduct lawyer in Osun

Some yet to be identified gunmen on Wednesday abducted the Permanent Secretary of Adamawa State Ministry of Mineral Resources, Emmanuel Piridimso.

The incident which has generated panic in the town was said to have happened at about 4am.

A family member Francis Samuel, who witnessed the incident and spoke with newsmen said the gunmen stormed the victim’s residence at Clark’s Quarters in Jimeta, Yola, about 3:20 am Wednesday and abducted the permanent secretary.

According to him, “The gunmen came bearing two guns and abducted the Permanent Secretary at gunpoint. They carted away his handset and that of his wife.

“We have tried to no avail to contact of the Permanent Secretary through his phone number, but the abductors refused to pick our calls. As at the time we are speaking, the abductors were yet to contact us.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Suleiman Yahaya, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday morning, said efforts were being made to get the permanent secretary back from captivity.

“Meanwhile, the police have already deployed IG’s rapid response team to track and arrest the culprits and to also rescue the victim,” the PPRO said.
