There has been heightened fear over what has become of Gambia’s President-elect Adama Barrow following a report that he may have been assassinated.

The CBN Television Gambia, a reputable media channel in the small West African country, had reported that that Barrow was assassinated by unknown gunmen.

According to the reports which was released on Wednesday, unknown gunmen were said to have overpowered the security guards of Mr. Barrow, killing him, two of the guards and injuring six others with gunshots.

However, a post on the Gambia’s President-elect’s twitter handle, @adama_barrow, refuted the news of his assassination.

The post reads, “We would like to inform you that the President-elect is alive and well. #Gambia”.
