PDP crisis: Stubborn Sheriff won’t agree to out of court settlement

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may have kick started its rebuilding efforts, as former Borno state governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, Tuesday, emerged as its new national chairman of PDP.

Sheriff, a foundation member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, defected to PDP late 2014 after a running battle with some powerful forces in APC. He was governor of Borno State between 2003 and 2011.

It would also be recalled that Sheriff had been alleged to be one of those who had hands in the emergence of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgency, for his romance with Mohammed Yusuf, the late leader of the insurgent group.

The emergence of Sheriff was announced by the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh, at the party’s national secretariat, in Abuja.

According to Metuh, PDP’s national caucus, governors’ forum and the national assembly caucuses all endorsed the former Borno State governor’s emergence
