CORONAVIRUS: 90% of infected patients will recover —Health Minister

Admist the daily increase of coronavirus patients, Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, Monday said 90 per cent of those infected will gain full recovery.

Mr Ehanire stated this while responding to questions at the daily Presidential Task Force (PTF) briefing on COVID-19.

He said despite the daily increase, there are also news of recoveries as well.

”An ambulance can do a large number of things, so the sign of an ambulance does not immediately translate to COVID-19. That is ‘over the top’ of apprehension, Mr Ehanire said.

”It can happen but in this case, I don’t believe so. There is no reason for apprehension because over 90 per cent of those who have COVID-19 will recover.

“Nine out of 10 will recover, so what is the fear about. Only that the numbers are so large that we forget that people recover and few get very sick, that is just about four or five out of 100.”

According to the COVID-19 latest update disclosed by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday night, Nigeria has 665 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 188 recoveries and 22 deaths which include the late Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
