The Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) has disputed claims by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) that six of the new 14 Coronavirus cases in Nigeria were discovered aboard a vessel that berthed in Lagos.

It would be recalled that the NCDC had announced in a tweet on Thursday night that 12 new cases were recorded in Lagos, adding that six of the cases were detected on a vessel that arrived Lagos.

The NPA, in apparent challenge of the claim, said it was not aware of the cases, adding that the NPA and the Port Health Services have not recorded any confirmed case till date.

“Hello @NCDCgov. In respect to the 6 new cases that “were detected on a vessel” in Lagos, the Authority in collaboration with Port Health has not recorded any confirmed cases to date”, the NPA tweeted.

The NPA further asked the NCDC to furnish it with the details of the vessel and the passengers on board.
