Boris Johnson loses support from within his own party over plans to suspend parliament

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson has announced a total lockdown urging people to stay at home with over 379,000 infected worldwide and death toll reaching up to 16,500.

On Monday, British government announced strict controls on movement after 52 more deaths related to the new coronavirus also known as COVID-19 were reported in the country.

The decision by the United Kingdom follows similar strict lockdowns orders in France, Spain, and Italy, and slightly looser restrictions elsewhere, as Europe reels from a pandemic that the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned is accelerating.

The move by the British government comes as concerned authorities in Italy have moved to stop all travel within the country, in a further escalation of its attempt to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus also known as COVID-19.

The new policy was announced on Sunday as the death toll of patients that have died of the virus reached 5,476; and other countries step up controls on movement and daily life.
