Diego Costa scored five minutes into his Atletico Madrid return after coming off the bench in their Copa del Rey first-leg 4-0 victory at Lleida Esportiu on Wednesday night.

The former Chelsea striker was sold back to Atletico in September, but was not cleared to play until January.

29-year-old Costa, who helped Chelsea to the Premier League title last season, came off the bench for his first game after 64 minutes to score his side’s third goal.

Diego Godin, Fernando Torres and Antonie Griezmann were also on the scoresheet in the last-16 tie.

At Chelsea, Brazil-born Costa scored 58 goals in 120 appearances within three and half years, including 20 in the Premier League last season.

The second leg of the tie against third-tier club holds next Tuesday, with Atletico hosting Getafe in the league this Saturday.
