Court adjourns Jonathan’s fundamental rights suit against EFCC to Jan 18

A Federal High Court Lagos presided over by Justice Mohammed Idris has further adjourned hearing in a suit by former President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience, till January 18, 2017.

The former First Lady is seeking enforcement of her fundamental rights against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), praying that the sum of $200million be awarded her as damages for inconveniences she has suffered.

She joined in her suit, Skye bank Plc, and a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Warampo Dudafa as respondents.

Further joined in the suit are four companies, Pluto Property Ltd, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Ltd, Transocean Company Ltd and Globus Integrated Service Ltd.

Counsel to Mrs Jonathan, Mr Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), had when the case was called on Wednesday, informed the court of a motion seeking to regularise his processes before the court.

He was granted leave to amend his process by Justice Idris, who also granted leave to the EFCC to amend its counter affidavit.

The court therefore fixed January 18, 2017 for continuation of hearing.
