Court charges two men for hijacking Libyan plan diverted to Malta

Two men claiming to be pro-Ghadafi fighters who hijacked a Libyan plane with 118 passengers and diverted the aircraft to Malta have been charged.

Defendants Moussa Saha and Ahmed Ali each entered pleas of innocent and wore bulletproof vests in their appearance Sunday. They face up to life in prison.

The pair were also charged with possession of imitation weapons, using violence against a person on a flight, holding people against their will, making threats of violence and attempting to cause financial or economic instability to a government.

Recall during the standoff that the two men who claimed to have hand grenades threatened to blow up the aircraft unless their demands were met. Reports say one of the hijackers told the flight crew of the Afriqiyah Airways plane that he was a Ghadafi sympathiser.
