The court proceedings took place on Wednesday, where Ikwechegh faced three charges related to assault and threats to life, brought against him by the office of the inspector-general of police. The lawmaker has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The incident leading to these charges reportedly occurred after a dispute between Ikwechegh and Abuwatseya.

According to a video that went viral online, the altercation escalated, resulting in the lawmaker allegedly physically assaulting the driver. This case has garnered significant media attention, raising questions about the behavior of public officials and their accountability in incidents involving citizens.
