Court orders EFCC to stay off ex-Gov Yari’s properties

ZAMFARA: Yari challenges anyone who knows he stole to expose him

The immediate past governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari got temporary relief on Friday as a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Attorney General of the Federation not to confisticate assets and property belonging him until the substantive suit.

Justice Nkeonye Maha, while ruling in an ex parte application for interim injunctions brought by Yari’s counsel, Mahmud Magaji, SAN, ordered that the status quo be maintained.

He also adjourned the matter until September 5 for further hearing.

The former governor prayed the court to restrain the EFCC and AGF from interfering with his enjoyment of the rights enshrined in Sections 34, 35, 37, 41 and 43 of the constitution.

He also prayed the court to stop the anti-graft agency from either inviting or arresting the former governor pending the determination of the substantive suit.
