The lawmaker-elect for Nwangele/Njaba/Isu/Nkwerre Federal Constituency of Imo state, Ugonna Ozurigbo, of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been sacked following a ruling by a Federal High Court sitting in Owerri.

While delivering his judgement, Justice Tijanni Ringim said that APC did not conduct any primary election and as such did not have any candidate in the February 23 National Assembly election.

As such, Justice Ringim ordered that the first runner-up in the election, being the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Kingsley Echendu, be issued with the certificate of return.

Recall that the case was brought before the Federal High Court by a member of APC, Harrison Nwadike, who filed a suit against the party claiming that he is the rightful candidate of the party for the election.

Joined in the suit were APC, Ozurigbo and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
