Court saves embattled Brazilian President in his bid to remain in office

Troubled Brazilian President Michel Temer has been cleared of corruption charges by a local court in a campaign finance case- a ruling which allows him to extend his stay in office.

“There are serious proven facts but not enough to annul the mandate,” the judge added.

Temer is being investigated separately by federal prosecutors for corruption, obstruction of justice and racketeering as part of a sprawling anti-graft probe.
