Court set to rule on govt application to detain Sowore for another 20 days

DSS confirms Sowore’s arrest, States reason

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court is set to hear an application by the Federal Fovernment, have the ‘RevolutionNow’ convener, Omoyele Sowore detained for 20 more days.

The Federal Government had last Friday, a day to the expiration of the 45 days court asked the Department of State Service (DSS) to keep Sowore in its custody, filed seven counts bordering on treasonable felony and money laundering against the journalist and activist.

Part of the new charges, is to have him kept back in prison for another 20 days.

The hearing is expected to take place today (Tuesday) and counsel to Sowore, Femi Falana was already present in court, as at the time of this report.

The matter, which was initially slated to hold earlier in the morning morning, it was learnt, had been stood down till 11:00am.

Sowore got into trouble over plans to stage a protest he tagged ‘RevolutionNow’ against the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
