Court slams Koffi Olomide with 1-yr sentence
Congolese Rumba maestro, Koffi Olomide has been sentenced to a year in prison without an option of fine by a local court in Kinshasa after assaulting his female band member at the JKIA Airport in Nairobi.
Olomide has now been moved to the Makala prison in Kinshasa to begin serving his sentence which has commenced with immediate effect.
Before he was arrested, Olomide however apologised following the unfortunate incident as he took to his Facebook page to plead to his fans, especially “women and children”, asking for forgiveness.
“I profoundly regret what happened… it was a moment of madness,” Olomide told Congolese national broadcaster RTNC, in an interview attached to the Facebook post.
