COVID-19: Abuja doctors, nurses get N50,000, N30,000 daily hazard allowance —FCT Minister

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Muhammed Musa Bello has approved daily hazard fees for COVID-19 frontline health workers in Abuja.

The acting Health Secretary, Dr Kawu Mohammed announced this during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

The minister approved for doctors who care for COVID-19 patients a daily hazard fee of 50,000 per day and for nurses, lab scientists and pharmacists a daily hazard fee of 30,000.

Also, N20,000 daily hazard fee was approved for ward heads, cleaners and drivers who handle coronavirus patients.

Disclosing this at the conference, Mohammed said the administration recently reviewed the daily hazard allowances received by health workers by 1,000 per cent.

This development came after doctors in Abuja recently cried out that the only thing they get for risking their lives to treat COVID-19 patients was a paltry hazard fee of N5000.
