Akwa Ibom govt set to pay new minimum wage, vows not sack workers

Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has said that conducting a random test for COVID-19 in the state would amount to absolute waste of resources.

“It would absolutely be a waste of resources if we go on random testing,” he said at a media briefing held at the state government house on Monday.

According to the governor, the state had conducted test on “Everyone who needed to be tested.”

He added, “Everything we do follows Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.”

Further noting that the state had collected and tested 84 specimens, Governor Emmanuel said that the most important thing was for everyone to co-operate and avoid any act capable of weakening the efforts of the government in tackling the novel Coronavirus pandemic.
