COVID-19: Burundi confirms first case

Burundi’s National Ministry of Health has issued a statement on Tuesday confirming its first coronavirus case in the country.

Reports say both men are Burundians with one aged 56, who had just returned from nearby Rwanda and the other aged 42, who had recently visited Dubai.

The tiny East African country was previously among the 6 of Africa’s 54 nations to be spared by the virus.

South Sudan, Tome and Principe, Lesotho, Malawi and Comoros currently have no record of coronavirus cases.
