Believe me and not the UN, no ransom was paid for Dapchi girls— Lai

The Federal Government of Nigeria has insisted that the COVID-19 medical kits donated by Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma are not contaminated as rumoured.

This was revealed on Thursday by Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who noted that the rumour is fake news during a presidential task force media briefing.

The minister said that the hearsay was quite unhelpful as it is causing distraction to the federal government’s efforts in curbing the spread of COVID-19 which is fast spreading across the country.

“The spike of fake news is distracting our fight against COVID-19 and this is quite unhelpful,” he said.

The minister added that the PTF briefing was a platform that gave “only authentic and real-time information,” and commended the media for “devoting their time and resources to educating Nigerians on the government’s fight against COVID-19″.

This comes after the Bauchi State government on Thursday reviewed its restriction order put in place to check the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The government said the new measures, which come just 24 hours to the deadline of the lockdown imposed on the state, takes effect April 2.
