Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu on Tuesday announced more measures to ensure compliance to the state regulations to control the spread of #COVID-19.

The governor imposed a curfew from 7pm to 7am everyday with effect from April 14 (today).

He wrote on his official Twitter handle-@RotimiAkeredolu:

“Today, we took more sterner measures to ensure compliance to the regulations we passed in order to control the spread of #COVID-19 in Ondo State.

“Henceforth we will be imposing a curfew from 7pm to 7am everyday with effect from today 14th April, 2020 until further notice

“The only exceptions allowed are for purposes of obtaining food, seeking emergency lifesaving or chronic medical attention or obtaining security passes for such journeys in accordance with our regulations.

“The point must be made again that the fight against #COVID-19 is a responsibility that will demand utmost seriousness & vigilance. There is the need for effective measure of containment, investigation, enforcement and control. We will not shy away from our duty to ensure same.”

The governor had in an earlier tweet refuted a report on the identity of the state’s third COVID-19 case in the state.

Online report had claimed that the third person to test positive to the dreaded disease in the state was a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.

However, responding to the report, the governor said:

“Infected person is not an @officialnyscng corps member as stated online. The individual was an ex corps member that served in the Barracks and was retained.

“As it is typical for all cases, all protocol for contact tracing has been activated with those closest to the new case kept in isolation for observation.”
