The management of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Borno State, has intensified its tracing of possible contacts of the state’s index COVID-19 case.

The hospital’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Mrs. Justina Anaso, disclosed this in a statement in Maiduguri Tuesday.

The management, therefore, appealed to its staff and relations of the index case in the hospital to contact the state COVID-19 Committee for the coronavirus test.

The index case, a nurse with the Doctors Without Borders (MSF), died at the UMTH on Sunday.

Anaso said some people, who had contact with the deceased had reported to the committee and were being managed in accordance with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.

She urged those who had contact with the deceased but deliberately refused to submit themselves for the test to reach out to the committee to ascertain their status.
