Our critics unreasonable, despite our hard work --Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has frowned at Nigerians who criticise the Federal government despite its relentless efforts to salvage the challenges facing the country.

He said many of the critics of the Muhammadu Buhari-led government have been very unfair, more especially as “many of them know that we did not invent the problems we are facing today.”

He stated this when a delegation of the National Council for Women’s Societies (NCWS) visited him at his office in Abuja, and promised that government is making concerted efforts to improve the welfare of the citizens.

Mohammed said, “We are very concerned about the welfare of Nigerians and we are not sleeping; we are working day and night to ensure that the country retraces its step. Many of our critics have been unfair to us because many of them know that we did not invent the problems we are facing today.”

Insisting that some of those criticising the ‘Change Begins with Me’ programme recently launched by the government are ignorant of what the campaign is all about, he explained that it was not meant to put any burden on Nigerians but encourage them on doing the right things.

“People have criticised the campaign. Some have said that the campaign ought to start from the top. We completely agree with them, but their criticism is because they did not understand the campaign. The campaign actually started from the top, because we are doing what we are preaching. This is the least ostentatious cabinet you can ever have.

“We are all living and showing good examples – we obey traffic rules, we queue up at public places and get to work early and close late,” he said.
