Crystal Palace sack manager De Boer after five games

Following his fourth defeat in four games in the Premier League this season, Crystal Palace boss, Frank de Boer, has been sacked by the club management after 77 days in charge.

Palace were defeated 1-0 by Burnley on Sunday – having already lost to Liverpool, Swansea City and Huddersfield – to become the first English side to earn such losing streak record in 93 years.

Announcing the Dutchman’s departure on the club website on Monday, Palace said:

“Crystal Palace Football Club have this morning parted company with Frank de Boer. We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work during his time at the Club.

“A new manager will be appointed in due course and we wish Frank the very best of luck for the future.”

The 47-year old is the shortest Premier League managerial tenure in terms of games, and his past two jobs have lasted a combined 162 days.

He was formerly with Ajax, where he won four Eredivisie titles between 2011 and 2015, and took a job with Inter Milan and was sacked after 85days in November 2016.

De Boer only took over Palace this summer, succeeding Sam Allardyce, who left after helping Palace avoid relegation last season.
