NJC recommends immediate compulsory retirement of Onnoghen

Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) on Friday claimed that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has concluded plans to arrest and replace the embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.

CUPP alleged that the plan is to arrest the CJN on Tuesday and subsequently replace him with Justice Tanko Muhammed as acting CJN.

The spokesperson of the group of political parties, Imo Ugochinyere, made this claim when he addressed a press conference in Abuja.

According to him, part of the plot is to carry out the arrest soon after a bench warrant must have been  issued by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) against the CJN.
