Customs Ali redeploys another 4,072 senior officers

Less than a week after Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), sanctioned the redeployment of 48 Comptrollers of Customs, the service has redeployed another 4,072 of its senior officers to commands across the four zones of the service.

A circular issued on Tuesday by the Acting Assistant Comptroller-General, Human Resources Department, Talatu Isa, in respect to the redeployments disclosed that the officers affected were from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Customs I to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs.

The circular gave the breakdown as 2,699 Assistant Superintendents of Customs I, 227 Assistant Superintendents of Customs II and 441 Chief Superintendents of Customs.

Also redeployed were 332 Superintendents of Customs and 373 Deputy Superintendents of Customs.

According to Isa, the redeployment was a “routine exercise” in line with the three-point agenda of the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Hameed Ali, which focused on reform, revenue and restructuring.

Apart from the 48 Comptrollers redeployed last week, the Customs boss had also not too long ago approved the redeployment of 337 Assistant Comptrollers.
