Customs intercept 20 bags of cannabis worth N30m

The Customs Service, Seme Border Area Command, has intercepted cannabis Sativa worth N30 million that was wrapped in an indomie noodles pack.

According to the Customs Public Relations Officer, ASC Nuruddeen Saidu, in a statement in Lagos on Friday, the intercepted cannabis which was 20 sacks of 1,582 parcels was smuggled into the country through the border.

The statement had it that the Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Mohammed Garba, confirmed that the items were concealed in a Mitsubishi Canter branded in Indomie noodles insignia.

Garba said that the vehicle was believed to be coming from Ghana.

He said that Seme officers of his command seized the items through intelligence report and arrested one suspect.

Garba added that the arrest was made around Mowo-Elijah axis by Patrol Team ‘A’ led by CSC Abubakar Dakingari, supported by SC Hamisu, ASC I Umar Danbuzu, among others.

The Comptroller averred that the command would not cease in its efforts to curtail illegal trade activities and other trans-border crimes.
