Customs shooting: Mum’s death still a dream, say children of slain trader

The children of Mrs. Patience Oni, a trader shot dead by some Customs officers along the Badagry Expressway, Lagos State, say they have yet to wake up to the reality that their mother is dead.

Two of the four children of the deceased, Victor and John, who spoke to City Round on Thursday, expressed fear that their educational pursuit might be dealt a huge blow with the demise of their mother.

Victory, 18, is an NCE II student at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Lagos State, while her elder brother was preparing for his Higher National Diploma in Animal Health and Production at the Oyo State College of Agriculture.

The PUNCH had reported that Patience, who traded in wears, was shot around Badagry Roundabout, close to a market where she had gone to buy some goods last Tuesday.

Speaking to The PUNCH correspondent, the eldest child, 25-year-old John, described his mother as a diligent woman who could go the extra mile to ensure the well-being of the family.
