Danfo Drivers accuse Tekno of copyright theft (Video)

The pair of Mountain Black and Mad Melon (real names Jimoh Olotu and Omeofa Oghene respectively), of the ‘Danfo Drivers’ fame are accusing producer and artiste, Tekno of sampling one of their songs without permission.

Reports say the pair who say Tekno owes them money for his action are even more miffed by the fact that Tekno didn’t bother to acknowledge them let alone reach out to them before sampling their song.

The bitter duo better known by their hit single ‘I am a Danfo Driver and Suo’ said in an interview with Wazobia TV that Tekno’s latest song titled ‘Jogodo’ is a sample of their 2008 song titled ‘Kpolongo’.

They also said during the interview that they have come to Lagos to hunt for Tekno and collect the money/royalties he owes them for sampling their song without permission.

This is not the first time a younger artiste is being accused by an older musician of copyright theft; in July 2016, Majek Fashek threatened to sue Timi Dakolo for remaking his song titled ‘Send Down The Rain’ in 2013 without his permission.

In the month of November 2017; Jaywon and Simi were both accused by veteran musician and one-time Commissioner for Arts and Culture in Edo state, Sir Victor Uwaifo of remixing his song titled ‘Joromi’, without his permission.

Sir Victor Uwaifo made that much known in an interview with Vanguard where he revealed that he would rather not drag both of them to court for not seeking permission from him before remixing the song as the original composer but wished they did the right thing.

Two months ago, veteran Nigerian musician Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adeyeye, popularly known as King Sunny Adé through his manager identified as Clement Ige also accused both Davido and Small Doctor of copyright infringement.
