'Dark forces' slap, beat three to death inside Onitsha well
There was a scene similar to one from an horror flick in the Trans Nkisi Federal Housing, 33, area of Onitsha, Anambra State recently.
In attempts to deepen the well to reach water by digging deeper, three men reportedly lost their lives in the well one after the other, with claims that a dark force was inside the well slapping and boxing people.
The first man who was hired to do the digging stepped in, but reportedly lost his balance, and fell in.
In efforts to rescue him, a relative identified as Usai, jumped into the well but also died. A third man tied a rope around his waist and went in after them, but quickly called out to be pulled up.
On his exit, there bruises and cuts on his body. He claimed that there were forces inside the well that were slapping and boxing him.
Another man, the fourth, who claimed he had ‘juju’ protection against such dark forces volunteered to bring the corpses out, but demanded for N100, 000 as payment.
After the fee was negotiated, he went into the well but also ended up dead.
Reports say the three corpses were finally brought out of the well, only after a sacrifice of a cock and goat was sent to a native doctor, who thereafter gave instructions on how the corpses could be retrieved.
Speaking on the issue however, Mr. Peter Katchy, Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross, Anambra state said it is probable the men may have died from a poisonous gas or substance in the well.
He also called for more investigations to be carried out to ascertain what was responsible.
