Secrete trial of Dasuki, Kanu, a ploy to shield the truth from Nigerians- Fayose

A Federal High Court in Abuja has been told that the embattled former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, admitted to the Department of State Services, DSS, that the weapons found in his house belong to the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, from which he just retired barely 48 hours before they were found.

According to a prosecution witness, Samuel Ogbu, an operative of the DSS, Dasuki stated that the weapons were meant for the use of his security details for protection purposes and were to be returned to the ONSA at the end of the day.

These were contained in Dasuki’s statement made to the operatives of the DSS tendered and admitted as exhibit by Justice Adeniyi Ademola in Dasuki’s trial on charges of unlawful possession of arms.

Dasuki’s counsel, Ahmed Raji, SAN, had asked Ogbu to read out the statement the former NSA made during his interrogation by DSS in the open court.

Under cross-examination, Ogbu, who was asked by Raji to read a portion of the statement of the defendant to the open court, confirmed that Dasuki, in the first paragraph of his statement, made it clear that the weapons belong to the ONSA and not his personal belonging.
