Dasuki turns down temporary freedom

Detained former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, on Monday rebuffed the presidency’s offer for temporary freedom, Ripples Nigeria has gathered.

The offer which was made to enable him attend the burial of his deposed late father, Ibrahim Dasuki was flatly rejected, a source quoting the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazzau said.

Dasuki was also said to have turned down an offer by the federal government to visit his ailing father while he was bed-ridden at an Abuja Hospital, choosing instead to pray for the repose of his soul.

“We had discussed with the Director-General, DSS, yesterday (Monday) and Sambo was offered to visit his late father on his hospital bed in Abuja.
“He declined and said he preferred to pray for him. He was also offered to be in Sokoto throughout the mourning period and he also declined, preferring to pray for his late father. That was the true situation,” Danbazzau said.

Ahmed Raji (SAN), lawyer to Dasuki, in his reaction, however, said he was not sure that any such offer was made to his client by the presidency.

“I am not aware of such gesture and our client did not tell us that such offer was extended to him. If such courtesy was to be accorded they should have informed the lawyers. But we were not informed. We are not aware of anything like that,” Raji said.

Critics of the Buhari administration, turning a blind eye to the mountain of corruption claims against Dasuki, allege that the former NSA is being hounded for the role he played in the ousting and detention of President Buhari in a military coup that brought Ibrahim Babangida to power in 1983.

Now this is where the real issue is. Can the FG explain this part for us?

Am sure Buhari won’t be that wicked refusing Sambo to attend his father’s burial. Sambo just want to get sympathy from Nigerians.
