Daura’s sack not enough, Saraki tells Osinbajo

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Wednesday, got rare praise singing from the President of the Nigeria Senate, Bukola Saraki for sacking Lawal Daura, who was relieved of his post on Tuesday.

Mr. Daura was sacked by the Acting President as the Director General of the Department of State Service, DSS, for deploying armed operatives to invade the National Assembly complex without authorization.

Commending the action taken by Prof Osinbajo, Saraki said “Mr. Acting President did the right thing”, while addressing a world press conference at the National Assembly complex.

Dr. Saraki, who has been called upon by the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, to resign his position or face impeachment, however said the sacking of the erstwhile DG DSS is just the beginning, saying every head of security agency that is found wanting should be shown the way out and disciplined.

He continued, “I thank the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for his handling of the situation we were all confronted with yesterday. His decisive action went a long way towards restoring confidence,” the Senate President said.
