DAY 77: Finally, Buhari makes appearance, meets with APC stalwarts in London

Breakfast In London With Citizen Buhari

The biggest evidence yet that President Muhammadu Buhari may not be bed-ridden as widely speculated and touted by some opposition politicians has emerged.

A statement authored by by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, alluded to a story filed by the governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, who was among other party stalwarts that met with the ailing President in London on Sunday.

The statement reads:

“In a telephone conversation following the meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and leaders with President Muhammadu Buhari in London Sunday, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, said the President was very cheerful and has not lost any bit of his sense of humour.

“The governor said the party delegation spent more than an hour with President Buhari over lunch, and it was very clear from the discussions that he followed developments at home very closely.

“He said the President was delighted to receive the delegation and asked each governor about affairs in his state. He also asked the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, about the state of the railways.

“When asked to react to all the negative things being said about him, the President just laughed, describing such negative reports as lies. Governor Okorocha said President Buhari was completely unperturbed by the cocktail of lies. He, instead, sent his best wishes to Nigerians.

“According to the governor, Nigerians don’t have to worry at all, adding that President Buhari will be back as soon as the doctors give him the green light.”

The statement also quoted Okorocha as saying that, “By our visit to London today, the merchants of lies have been put out of business and Nigerians will not buy the garbage they have been selling. All those who look up to fake news can find better use for their time.”

Adesina said that Governors Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa; Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna; Yahaya Bello of Kogi; and APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, were the other party chieftains in the delegation.

President Buhari’s absence from the country has generated much controversy among Nigerians, with some calling for his resignation and others asking the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and the National Assembly to institute the process for the independent verification of the president’s health.

From the opposition end, former minister Femi Fani-Kayode and Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, prominent leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have been especially vocal and stringent in their criticism of the president and his handlers over his health and repeated medical vacation.

Governor Fayose had only recently claimed that the president was on life-support in London, adding that he had ample evidence to back up his claim. He also strongly dismissed the comments of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo where he claimed the president was in high spirits and was recuperating fine after his short visit to him.

Fani-Kayode had also in like manner alleged that Buhari’s illness was incapacitating and protracted, and contended that comments claiming the contrary were the product of sycophancy and a calculated attempt at deceiving the people.

Today’s development is sure to bring the president’s health back into focus, and spur conversations as to what to make of the evidence of the meeting. What is clear though is that President Buhari’s health is an important subject to many Nigerians and nothing short of full disclosure may be sufficient to rest the animated debate.

APC government will go to any length to make their lies seem true to Nigerian. If Nigerians belief this picture is real, Biafrans are saying NO it’s not real! This is another manipulation to distract Nigerians from other important things in the country.
