Day after dismissing war accusations by N’Korea, US says it is ready to pound Pyongyang

Interview with investigators unlikely as there was no meeting with Russia, Trump says

A day after White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders denied the allegations by Ri Yong-ho, the foreign minister of North Korea who said President Donald Trump had declared war on his country, Trump has declared that the US is ready to take military option against Pyongyang.

Trump made the comments while reacting to reports of a North Korean threat to shoot down American bombers, after what the country through its foreign minister called a declaration of war.

He declared that the US is “totally prepared” to take a military option against North Korea, saying “it will be devastating” to Pyongyang.

“We are totally prepared for the second option. Not a preferred option. But if we take that option it will be devastating, I can tell you that, devastating for North Korea,” Trump said on Tuesday from the White House.

“That’s called a military option. If we have to take it, we will.”

The increasingly heated rhetoric between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is raising fears of a risk of a miscalculation by one side or the other that could have massive repercussions.

Pyongyang accuses Washington, which has 28,500 troops in South Korea, a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean War, of planning to invade and regularly threatens to destroy it and its Asian allies.
