Days after pulling out of PDP, Adeniran predicts outcome of 2019 presidential poll

If there is anyone who knows what the exact outcome of the 2019 presidential poll would be, it is Professor Tunde Adeniran who, over the weekend, announced that he and Professor Jerry Gana had left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Speaking Monday morning on Sunrise Daily, a programme broadcast by Channels Tv, Adeniran said that the SDP has not only been positioned as the ‘third force’ but that it would overtake the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and main opposition party, PDP, to overthrow the Buhari-led government in 2019.

Probed on what he thought would play out as political parties jostle for power in 2019, he said, ‘there’s no doubt, SDP will win the Presidency.’ He also bragged that the polity would witness a massive surge towards SDP as forces within the Olusegun Obasanjo-led National Coalition Movement had concluded plans to work with them.

Adeniran, a former Minister of Education and Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany had lost out in the PDP chairmanship race at the last December 9 national convention. He led a walk-out, alleging that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and a few others he refused to mention, had hijacked the PDP and had returned impunity in the administration of the party.

Both Adeniran and Gana had been Board of Trustee (BoT) members of PDP.
