Deadly scenes in Kabul as protesters clash with police in wake of explosion
Hundreds of demonstrators in Kabul rallied on Friday near the site of Wednesday’s blast and later clashed with police in deadly scenes when security forces fired into the air to disperse protesters calling for the government’s resignation in the wake of a massive bombing.
Reports say police in riot gear fired warning shots and used water cannons and tear gas to block the protesters, many of whom were throwing stones, from gaining access to the road leading to the presidential palace.
The demonstrators accused President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah of failing to protect them with reports claiming that four people were killed and eight wounded in the clashes.

A protester Amir Arya said a number of his friends were wounded by police as they tried to block the protesters from advancing.
“Some of them were beaten by police with sticks and some others detained,” he said. “This act of police and government proves that peaceful demonstration would not be useful anymore.”
The deadly explosion which tore through a highly secure diplomatic district in Kabul, Afghanistan, two days ago, left no less than 90 people dead and 350 others injured.
The incident sent clouds of black smoke spiraling into the sky near the presidential palace and foreign embassies with the vast majority of casualties said to be civilians.
