Death of US student, Otto Warmbier “a mystery to us as well”, N’Korea posits
Pariah Asian country, North Korea has denied accusations that U.S. university student Otto Warmbier died because of torture and beating during his captivity in Pyongyang while also noting that his death is “a mystery to us as well”.
According to comments by the North’s foreign ministry spokesman carried by the official KCNA agency, Otto was “a victim of the policy of strategic patience” of former U.S. President Barack Obama whose government never requested his release.
Three days ago, the Republican chairman of the Armed Services Committee the United States of America, John McCaine condemned the death of Otto who recently returned from North Korea while also noting that the US will not ‘tolerate murder of citizens by hostile powers’.
McCain said Otto who died days after his release from detention there in North Korea was “murdered by the Kim Jong-un regime”.

“The United States of America cannot and should not tolerate the murder of its citizens by hostile powers,” McCain said in a statement on Monday.
Otto’s death was announced by his family in a statement released by UC Health Systems, saying, “It is our sad duty to report that our son, Otto Warmbier, has completed his journey home. Surrounded by his loving family, Otto died today at 2:20pm”.
Continuing, the statement by Otto’s family revealed that their son could not survive the torture dished out to him by North Korean authorities.
Otto was arrested in North Korea while visiting as a tourist, and had been described by doctors who examined him last week on his return as having suffered extensive brain damage that left him in a state of “unresponsive wakefulness”.
